Trailer for Detention of the Dead!
Palm Beach International Film Festival - Friday March 25 - 7.15PM - Muvico Parisian Theater
So I have admittedly been terrible at keeping the BLOG. Lots has happened and is currently happening as life and career moves forward. I did not end up making it out to do the film “Family Weekend” in Michigan, so that was a bit of a disappointment and a gap in the beginning of my year.
I have managed to stay busy, though: shooting my first Music Video for the band “HoneyHoney” directed by the uber talented Jordan Bahat (the song is “Slow Mover”), finishing a feature shoot in Portland called “The Sacred” for the marvelous and jet setting Edd Lukas (twinge of jealousy…) while getting to work with director Brett Donowho, more funny Web content with producer Lowell Shapiro and director Peter Lazarus (look out for “Table for Two with Jonathan Daniel Brown” on Funny or Die soon) and part of a Web Series called “Man Teen” which was a first collaboration with director Brian Spitz.
Color Correction on “Conception” was finalized with the help of Kim Schneider and the film is hitting the Festival Circuit starting with The Palm Beach International Film Festival (I will be participating in the Q&A with director Josh Stolberg and producers Stephanie Sherrin and Leila Charles Leigh on Friday March 25th). I am so proud of what we were able to do in 10 Days and for $100K. I really like the film and am hoping that people enjoy it as much as I do. For more info there is the “Conception” Website.
The Party Bible shorts that I shot with Hayden Roush, Dominic Russo and Connor Pritchard for EBaum’s World’s foray into original content have started to get released. New episodes of funny and disgusting true party stories can be found on EBaum’s World every Monday. My sister Jane is in one coming up soon. Not for those without a sense of humor!
I was lucky enough to get up to Vancouver to do Color Correction on “Occupied” last year, and they just finished the Sound Mix here in LA a few weeks ago. Director Mollie Binkley and her sister (the film’s lead) Liza were out to get it done! I am looking forward to seeing the final product towards the end of this month.
I now have representation, which is very exciting. Ryan Tracey and Erich Aguillon at The United Talent Agency are helping to make things happen!
Finally - I am prepping a new feature that will take me out to Michigan for April and May called “Detention of the Dead”. It is a Teen Zombie Romantic Comedy in the vein of John Hughes, so it has been a lot of fun catching up on those movies and starting to explore more Zombie Genre. It is being directed by Alex Craig Mann, who I met through the Beverly Hills Playhouse family.
I will now do as every irregular blogger does and state that I will try harder to be more dedicated. Whew (anything to avoid re-cutting my reel and scanning pictures!).
From the set of “Conception” trying to be in The Zone:

Running with the Noche is here! In allll its Glory…
“The Errand” - Directed by Peter Lazarus. Fun little shoot that we did in a day. I gotta say that it was pretty uncomfortable with the baby - but at least thats an accomplishment for a day!
I don’t want to sound too much like The Daily Show’s John Hodgman on his segment “You’re Welcome”, but I think I have solved my issues with Halloween. I have always had issue with the duration of the one night holiday, which actually stretches into a whole week. Fall of 2005 I made an investment in a costume, spurred by inspiration from one of my favorite holiday movies: “Bad Santa”. Yes, I bought a Santa Suit. That was my first foray into Bad Santa-ing on Halloween, and I must admit that I probably tended towards more Belligerence than Badness. A friend of mine from High School (who is actually my lawyer now) saw the potential in such a costume and proceeded to “borrow” it for the next several years. His exploits were legendary: Skiing Santa, South Beach Santa, etc. I think it was during a move that he unearthed the slightly soiled suit and decided that it was best to return it to its rightful owner instead of getting it dry cleaned himself.
Last year I was in Detroit for Halloween, costume-less, so this year was my first real chance to get back into one of my favorite Characters. Lets just say that though almost everyone’s first impression of Bad Santa is borderline disgust, eventually people want to know what they’re going to get for Christmas - and the advantage of being Half Jewish is that I can reach out to other Faiths so everyone feels included.

Anyhow, I feel re-united with a holiday that I really liked as a kid, though I feel I am only up for one costume party a Halloween Week. I am rather excited to see if I stumble upon pictures from the party at Palihouse I attended - lots of classy photo-ops (aka I was trying to look as drunk and inappropriate as I could). Look out for other possible Bad Santa sightings as the Holidays draw closer…
